Abstract

The digital era, secularism, and spiritual crisis are three major challenges facing the church in the 21st century. Digitalization has transformed patterns of worship and community, secularism pushes religion out of the public sphere, while the spiritual crisis has given rise to forms of alternative spirituality that are fluid and individualistic. This article aims to analyze the transformative role of the Holy Spirit in responding to these three challenges holistically. Using a qualitative literature study method with a theological-descriptive approach, this research investigates the nature of the Holy Spirit, the impact of the digital era and secularism on congregational life, as well as the transformative role of the Spirit in forming a resilient congregation. The results show that the Holy Spirit acts as an active agent of renewal, a giver of the gift of digital discernment to counter theological hoaxes, and a source of spiritual resilience amidst the postmodern inner drought. In conclusion, the transformation of the church in this era of challenges is only possible through the leadership of the Holy Spirit, not merely human strategies, so the church is called to return to an authentic Pentecostal experience.


 


Era digital, sekularisme, dan krisis spiritualitas merupakan tiga tantangan utama yang dihadapi gereja pada abad ke-21. Digitalisasi telah mengubah pola ibadah dan komunitas, sekularisme mendorong agama keluar dari ruang publik, sementara krisis spiritualitas memunculkan bentuk-bentuk spiritualitas alternatif yang cair dan individualistis. Artikel ini bertujuan menganalisis peran transformatif Roh Kudus dalam menjawab ketiga tantangan tersebut secara holistik. Menggunakan metode studi pustaka kualitatif dengan pendekatan teologis-deskriptif, penelitian ini menyelidiki hakikat Roh Kudus, dampak era digital dan sekularisme terhadap kehidupan berjemaat, serta peran transformasi Roh dalam membentuk jemaat yang tangguh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Roh Kudus berperan sebagai agen pembaruan yang aktif, pemberi karunia diskernemen digital untuk menangkal hoaks teologis, serta sumber ketahanan spiritual di tengah kekeringan batin postmodern. Kesimpulannya, transformasi gereja di era tantangan hanya mungkin terjadi melalui kepemimpinan Roh Kudus, bukan sekadar strategi manusiawi, sehingga gereja dipanggil untuk kembali pada pengalaman Pentakosta yang otentik.
