Indonesian Journal of Religious - IJR

About Journal

Indonesian Journal of Religious (IJR) is published by Sekolah Tinggi Teologi Indonesia, Jakarta, in cooperation with the scholars association: Indonesia Christian Theologians Association (ICTA), MoU number 121/SU.KET/PTAKI/2023. IJR has the perspectives of the humanities and social sciences published half-annually in April and October with e-ISSN: 2827-8984. Decree of the Director General of Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia number 355/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026 concerning the accreditation ranking of scientific journals for period 3 of 2025 -IJR is accredited SINTA 3.

IJR is an international peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary research in the field of religious studies. The journal provides an academic platform for critical, constructive, and innovative discussions on religion as a dynamic phenomenon that shapes and is shaped by political, economic, social, cultural, educational, and technological contexts.

IJR seeks to bridge the gap between textual and contextual approaches to the study of religion while fostering dialogue across diverse religious traditions, theological perspectives, and methodological approaches. Rather than reinforcing the dichotomy between "orthodox" and "heterodox" perspectives, the journal encourages scholarship that critically examines how sacred texts, religious traditions, and lived religious experiences engage with contemporary local and global challenges.

The journal welcomes original research articles from a wide range of disciplines, including religious studies, theology, philosophy, history, anthropology, sociology, political science, education, law, cultural studies, and other fields within the humanities and social sciences. By promoting interdisciplinary scholarship, IJR aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of religion and its role in contemporary society.

The Indonesian Journal of Religious is published biannually in April and October. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure high standards of academic quality, originality, and research integrity.

Since 2020, IJR has been a member of Crossref, and every published article is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure persistent identification and global accessibility. The journal is indexed and abstracted in several national and international databases, including Garuda, Sinta, Dimensions, and other reputable indexing services, thereby enhancing the visibility and impact of published research.

IJR is committed to promoting ethical, inclusive, and globally relevant scholarship that advances academic dialogue and contributes to the development of religious studies in Indonesia and beyond.
